Inne receives ten million US dollars

Inne determines the progesterone level using saliva tests. The Berlin-based start-up now wants to take its technology to the USA.

Inne has received ten million US dollars in a financing round. DSM Venturing led the round. Borski Fund, Calm Storm Ventures, Taavet Hinrikus from Wise, Fiona Pathiraja and Rolf Schromgens from Trivago also participated.

Founded by Eirini Rapti in 2017, the start-up has developed a technology that allows women to track their progesterone levels. The hormone rises shortly before ovulation and falls again afterwards. By tracking progesterone, women can determine their ovulation more accurately and increase their chances of becoming pregnant. On the other hand, the method is suitable for contraception. Inne determines the progesterone level using a saliva test. A mini-laboratory evaluates the results and sends them to an app.

The start-up wants to use the capital from the financing round to expand into the USA. Inne also plans to further develop its mini-laboratory and platform to cover other areas of women's health. Through a partnership with Phenology, the start-up wants to test a new feature for older women this year. It is designed to help them track hormonal changes before the menopause. The mini-lab will also be able to measure the stress hormone cortisol in future, as stress can have a negative impact on the oestrogen balance and therefore on fertility.
