Inne receives ten million US dollars

Inne determines progesterone levels using saliva tests. The Berlin-based start-up now wants to take its technology to the USA.

Inne has received ten million US dollars in a financing round. DSM Venturing led the round. Borski Fund, Calm Storm Ventures, Taavet Hinrikus from Wise, Fiona Pathiraja and Rolf Schromgens from Trivago also participated.

Founded by Eirini Rapti in 2017, the startup has developed technology that allows women to track their progesterone levels. The hormone rises just before ovulation and then drops again. By tracking progesterone, women can on the one hand determine their ovulation more precisely and increase their chances of becoming pregnant. On the other hand, the method is suitable for contraception. Inne determines the progesterone level using a saliva test. A mini-lab evaluates the results and sends them to an app.

The startup plans to use the capital from the financing round to expand to the United States. Inne also plans to further develop its mini-lab and platform to cover other areas of women's health. Through a partnership with Phenology, the startup hopes to test a new feature for older women later this year. It aims to help them track hormone changes before menopause. In addition, the mini-lab will also be able to measure the stress hormone cortisol in the future, as stress can have a negative impact on estrogen balance and thus on fertility.
