Cake gossip can apparently continue

Back in July, the start-up known from "Die Höhle der Löwen" had to file for insolvency. Now it seems to have found a new partner.

The start-up Kuchentratsch, known from Die Höhle der Löwen (DHDL), seems to have been saved once again. "We've had an eventful time - now there's hope for our bakery. Together with a strong partner, we want to get going again and bake delicious granny cakes," writes the start-up in a post on Linkedin. The company is now looking for interns, a production manager, a shift manager and a team assistant in the bakery.

Founder Katharina Mayer launched the company in 2014 with the idea of having senior citizens create cakes and selling them online. According to her own figures, she achieved a turnover of more than 800,000 euros in 2021. Kuchentratsch has also already completed a crowdfunding campaign in which 130 small investors took part. In April, it was able to raise 234,000 euros.

But then things took a turn. "My heart is broken," wrote the 33-year-old founder on Linkedin when she announced her insolvency in July. "The overall tense situation in the economy has also hurt us and the campaign was not as successful as it needed to be," she continued. Now the start-up seems to have survived the worst of it for the time being. However, it is still unclear who exactly the new partner will be.
