Cake gossip can apparently continue

As recently as July, the start-up known from "Die Höhle der Löwen" had to file for insolvency. Now it seems to have found a new partner.

The start-up Kuchentratsch, known from Die Höhle der Löwen (DHDL), seems to have been saved once again. "Behind us lies an eventful time - Now there is hope for our bakery. Together with a strong partner, we want to get going again and bake delicious oma cakes," the start-up writes in a post on Linkedin. Now the company is looking for interns, a production manager, a shift manager and a team assistant in the bakery.

Founder Katharina Mayer started in 2014 with the idea of having senior citizens create cakes and selling them online. According to her own data, she still achieved sales of more than 800,000 euros with it in 2021. Kuchentratsch also already has a crowdfunding campaign behind it, in which 130 small investors participated. In April, it was able to raise 234,000 euros in this way.

But then the twist. "My heart is broken," the 33-year-old founder wrote on Linkedin when she announced insolvency in July. "The overall tense situation in the economy also hurt us and the campaign was not as successful as it needed to be," she explained further. Now, the startup seems to be through the worst of it for now. Who exactly will be the new partner, meanwhile, is still unclear.
