According to the Berlin real estate start-up McMakler, the Handelsblatt raised a further 50 million euros. The company is now valued at 800 million euros. The investors include the Scottish investment management firm Baillie Gifford, which is a new investor, the US private equity firm Warburg Pincus and an existing investor. It only became known in the fall that McMakler's turnover had increased by 98 percent in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year. The company had apparently earned 40 million euros. McMakler wants to expand its network over the next few years. The number of brokers had already increased by 77 percent compared to 2020.
McMakler is a hybrid broker operating in Germany, Austria and France. The company employs more than 400 of its own real estate agents at over 20 locations. They are supported by almost 600 employees at the headquarters in Berlin and an artificial intelligence system. Felix Jahn started the hybrid real estate agent as a founding investor and Executive Chairman and also took on the role of CEO in 2018.
