Plaza collects seven-figure sum

BMH Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen invests in kitchen start-up Plaza.
The Wiesbaden-based start-up Plaza receives a seven-figure sum from a financing round. Among others, Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen, a medium-sized venture capital company and wholly-owned subsidiary of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen, is investing in the young company. Several unspecified private investors and corporations also participated in the financing round.
Plaza offers the Tielo kitchen technology for the smart home. The product is a smart kitchen splashback that can be operated using voice control and a touchpad. Tielo is designed to be individually fitted into kitchens like a conventional splashback. It comes with a cookbook that provides digital support for everyday meal preparation with recipes, explanatory videos and a customized digital shopping list.
According to the Wiesbaden-based company Plaza, which was founded in 2021, Tielo is almost ready for the market. "We have already received our first orders from the market," says founder Volker Schmidt. Plaza intends to use the new capital to develop the first marketable prototype. The company says it will then deliver the first demonstration products in spring 2023.
