Plaza collects seven-figure sum
Marius Ochs | 19.10.2022BMH Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen joins kitchen start-up Plaza.
The Wiesbaden-based start-up Plaza receives a seven-figure sum from a financing round. Among others, Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen, a medium-sized venture capital company and wholly owned subsidiary of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen, is investing in the young company. Otherwise, several unspecified private investors and corporations participated in the financing round.
Plaza offers Tielo kitchen technology for the smart home. The product is a smart kitchen backsplash that can be operated by voice control and touchpad. Tielo is designed to be individually fitted into kitchens like a conventional backsplash. It is then accompanied by a cookbook that digitally supports everyday meal preparation with recipes, explanatory videos and customized digital shopping lists.
Tielo is close to market readiness, according to the Wiesbaden-based company Plaza, which was founded in 2021. "We have already received the first orders from the market," says founder Volker Schmidt. Plaza plans to use the new capital to develop the first marketable prototype. The company says it will then deliver the first demonstration poducts in spring 2023.
