Top 50 start-ups in Germany honored
Around 850 winners from 171 start-up competitions were analyzed and evaluated for the ranking. For the first time, a duo of female founders took first place.
The portal Top 50 Start-ups portal has selected the most innovative German start-ups. At the top of the winners' podium is Traceless Materials from Hamburg. The start-up aims to combat global plastic pollution with the help of a sustainable plastic alternative.
With Traceless Materials at the top, two female founders took first place for the first time. In second place is the Berlin start-up Conbotics, which develops robotic solutions for the construction industry. Third place went to Crafting Future from Hanover, a developer of sustainable reusable products in the food sector.
The fields of health and life sciences, medical technology, biotechnology, green economy, mobility and software are strongly represented in the ranking. The ranking reveals a regional innovation gap and the low proportion of female founders. Just under 50 percent of the selected start-ups come from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia, while the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony-Anhalt and Saarland are not represented in the ranking at all. The proportion of female founders in the top 50 start-ups is just under 20 percent. There are no women at all in 60 percent of the founding teams.
The Top 50 Start-ups platform belongs to Passion4Business GmbH, in which the FAZ publishing group also has a stake. The platform's partners are Agicap, Commerzbank and Lexrocket.
