Tourlane turns over a total of 1.5 million euros in 2020

The travel start-up Tourlane has presented its annual financial statements for the 2020 financial year. Compared to 2019, it generated two million euros less revenue.

Compared to 2019, the travel start-up Tourlane generated two million euros less turnover in 2020. In 2019, turnover was more than 3.5 million euros. And in January and February 2020, the total booking volume increased significantly, as Tourlane writes in its annual financial statements. However, international travel bans were then imposed, meaning that more than 80 percent of these trips were canceled. Tourlane lost 59% of its total booking volume for the rest of the year compared to 2019. In the 2020 financial year, the company generated revenue of 1.5 million euros.

Julian Stiefel and Julian Weselek founded Tourlane in 2016 to arrange higher-priced trips. The net loss for 2020 was 14.8 million euros. In total, the company has cost around 44 million euros to set up so far. The founders have raised 65.5 million euros to date, including from HV Capital, Sequoia Capital and Spark Capital, according to deutsche-startups.de reports.

In November 2020, the founders of the travel start-up raised a capital increase of 16.9 million euros, according to the annual financial statements. These new shares were largely acquired by Stiefel and Weselek and the existing investors. For 2022, the company once again expects turnover to be higher than in 2019 in its annual financial statements.
