Tourlane turns over a total of 1.5 million euros in 2020

Travel startup Tourlane has presented its financial statements for fiscal 2020. Compared to 2019, it has turned over two million euros less.

Compared to 2019, the travel start-up Tourlane turned over two million euros less in 2020. In 2019, the turnover was more than 3.5 million euros. And still in January and February 2020, the total booking volume increased significantly, as Tourlane writes in its annual financial statements. But then, among other things, international travel bans were imposed, so more than 80 percent of those trips were canceled again. Tourlane lost 59 percent in total booking volume for the rest of the year compared to 2019. In fiscal 2020, the company thus turned over 1.5 million euros.

Julian Stiefel and Julian Weselek founded Tourlane in 2016 to broker higher-priced travel. The annual loss in 2020 was 14.8 million euros. In total, it has cost about 44 million euros to build the company so far. The founders raised 65.5 million euros so far, including from HV Capital, Sequoia Capital and Spark Capital, as deutsche-startups.de reported.

Still in November 2020, the founders of the travel startup raised 16.9 million in a capital increase, according to the financial statements. These new shares were largely acquired by Stiefel and Weselek and the existing investors. For 2022, the company again expects revenues in its annual financial statements to be higher than in 2019.
