100 million dollars for Infarm

The start-up Infarm has raised 100 million dollars in a recent financing round. The Berlin-based company had already raised money in September, bringing its total funding to 270 million dollars in the last six months alone.
Just last week, it was announced that Infarm is aiming for a financing round of over 200 million euros(Startbase reported). The rumors remain uncommented to this day. But as Bloomberg reports, the Berlin-based start-up has now raised 100 million dollars. The money comes from existing investors Atomico and Hanaco Ventures, who were also involved in the financing round of 170 million dollars in September 2020.
Since 2013, Infarm has been working on vertical farming, which requires no pesticides and only a small amount of water and cultivation area. To this end, the start-up is setting up farms in city centers, including in supermarkets and restaurants.
The money will be used to expand the range, for example to include mushrooms, tomatoes and chili peppers. The start-up has also announced plans to hire more employees and strengthen existing markets. Infarm is currently represented in ten markets.
