Aldi Süd is apparently working with this start-up on food delivery

The software of the still young company Spryker is to form the basis for an online platform. It remains to be seen whether Aldi Nord will also come on board.

Aldi Süd has been testing an online store with subsequent grocery delivery in the USA for several weeks and could possibly bring the concept to Germany as early as 2023. This is reported by the Handelsblatt. Aldi Süd will then primarily deliver fresh food.

This could make the service a direct competitor to numerous start-ups such as Flaschenpost. Founded in 2014, the start-up initially made a name for itself with an online beverage delivery service before being sold to Dr. Oetker in 2020, presumably for almost one billion euros. For some time now, the start-up has also been offering food delivery under new ownership. With its potential delivery service, Aldi is also competing with Bringoo and possibly even with fast delivery services such as Gorillas, Knuspr and Flink. Aldi's competitor Rewe is also involved in the latter. However, it remains to be seen whether this will actually happen. Aldi Süd told Lebensmittelzeitung : "Like all market participants, we have always observed developments on the market and carry out daily test runs in various areas around the world."

The work of the Berlin start-up Spryker could apparently make a food delivery service possible. Founded in 2014, the start-up is already working with many large companies and, according to Wirtschaftswoche , is providing the technical basis for the online platform. The start-up's offering is something like a modular system for online stores. After various rounds of financing, it is already worth more than 500 million US dollars, has just expanded into the USA and has recently grown strongly despite the crisis, as Head of HR Elise Müller told Startbase.
