PartsCloud is expanding its business into the U.S. by opening a warehouse in Chicago and partnering with Gebrüder Weiss. The Stuttgart-based startup digitizes spare parts logistics in mechanical and plant engineering.

Stuttgart, Germany, October 19, 2023 - Stuttgart-based PartsCloud, which specializes in logistics-as-a-service (LaaS) for digital spare parts logistics in mechanical and plant engineering, has announced that it is expanding its operations into the United States. In doing so, PartsCloud has opened a warehouse in Chicago and is working in partnership with Gebrüder Weiss, an international logistics company based in Austria.

With Gebrüder Weiss, we have been able to gain a partner for our platform model with whom we are ideally positioned for further expansion in North, Central and South America.

Benjamin Reichenecker, CEO of PartsCloud

This expansion marks a major step in the growth strategy of PartsCloud, which was founded in 2021. The startup aims to create a global logistics network accessible through a user-friendly interface. This plan is supported by an Industry Advisory Board, which brings together experts from the industry.

2.5 million euros raised so far

Thanks to investments totaling about 2.5 million euros from pre-seed rounds to date, including investments from SquareOne, Johannes Plehn (founder of Seven Senders) and Rainer Hundsdörfer (former CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen), PartsCloud is financially well equipped to enter the U.S. market. The company has already won its first customer in the United States.

Spare parts logistics in mechanical and plant engineering is very complex, and this is where we can provide support with our many years of logistics expertise.

Lothar Thoma, Managing Director Air & Sea Gebrüder Weiss

The importance of PartsCloud's solutions becomes clear when you consider the costs incurred by production companies due to machine downtime. On average, such companies lose around 13.5 million euros per month. PartsCloud offers efficient solutions to minimize these costs.

The strategic partnership with Gebrüder Weiss, an established logistics company with presence in 34 countries and its own organization in the U.S. since 2017, enables PartsCloud to seamlessly transfer proven operational models and fulfillment processes to the U.S.

Further expansion planned

Spare parts procurement is a critical factor for the mechanical and plant engineering industry, which is one of the leading export and innovation industries in Germany. In addition to expanding into the U.S., PartsCloud plans to expand into markets in Asia, as well as other regions such as Mexico, the U.K. and the Middle East. Its goal is to make global spare parts procurement more efficient and help strengthen the machinery and plant engineering industry.
