AmCham Germany announces Female Founders Award

The application deadline is at the beginning of March.

Successful female founders from Germany and the USA can apply for the AmCham Germany Female Founders Award until March 7. The award ceremony will take place on April 27 in Berlin and is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany. The jury is looking for female founders with innovative and sustainable business models in the transatlantic region. Female founders themselves can apply, but other companies or individuals can also nominate suitable candidates.

"The Female Founders Award was invented to make it superfluous," says Torsten Oltmanns, Chairman of the AmCham Germany Chapter Berlin-Brandenburg and member of the award jury. "It is right and important that the same conditions apply to female and male founders. As long as this is not the case, our award will help to empower female founders and spread knowledge about their good solutions and successful businesses." The USA is also still in a poor position compared to Germany. Few women start up there too. "But when they do, they are more successful," says Oltmanns.

The jury evaluates the applications according to the following selection criteria: The female applicant must be the (co-)founder of a start-up that has been successful on the market for between two and five years. Success is measured by the number of customers or visibility. In addition, the start-up must be solidly financed and must be developing successfully in terms of turnover and market share.
