E.Go wants to build cars in Bulgaria

The Aachen-based e-car start-up is leaving Germany for its main production facility. After overcoming insolvency, E.Go is now planning a company in Bulgaria.
The e-car manufacturer E.Go is leaving Germany and plans to relocate its main production to Bulgaria. This was announced by the Bulgarian Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov in a press release. The car manufacturer has had a fast-paced year: E.Go filed for insolvency last summer, Dutch investors rescued the Aachen-based start-up, founder Günther Schuh left the company last month and there were rumors of an IPO via Spac.
E.Go is investing the equivalent of 143 million euros in the new company in the Bulgarian city of Lowetsch. From there, 30,000 vehicles of the e.GO Life 70, e.GO Life Sport and e.GO Life Cross models are to be built each year. Suppliers will include the German companies Bosch, ZF and Continental. The aluminum frame, cables and software, on the other hand, will be manufactured and programmed in Bulgaria. Minister Petkov promised a "record time" in the construction of the company. The first e-cars are expected to roll off the production line as early as the end of next year.
