The lithium battery start-up has gained serial founder Lukasz Gadowski as a business angel. In the medium term, the company wants to produce more environmentally friendly and efficient e-car batteries.

Veteran founder Lukasz Gadowski joins Berlin start-up Theion. This was announced by the company. In addition to Gadowski, founder and investor Thomas Andrae and Benjamin Braun are also involved in the seed round. The amount of the funding was not initially disclosed.

Theion is working on a lithium battery for use in electric cars. According to the company, this should charge faster than conventional models, have a higher capacity and be produced in a more environmentally friendly way, for example by dispensing with cobalt and recycling industrial waste.

Theion was only launched last year. The company is backed by CEO Florian Ruess, formerly an engineer at Airbus and OHB, and CTO Marek Slavik, who has been involved in the battery scene for many years.
