The Allianz app was supposed to help customers manage their finances and insurance. However, the number of users did not meet expectations.

The Allianz financial app Heymoney is apparently to be shut down in the coming weeks. "It was not easy for us to stop our work on the app, but this decision was unavoidable," said Managing Director Bernd Storm at Finance Forward quoted. The hoped-for user growth of the app probably failed to materialize. The number of users is said to have only been in the five-digit range.

Allianz had made a double-digit million investment in 2019 to develop the app. The insurance group put a well-known team in charge of Heymoney. This included Aboalarm creators Bernd Storm and Arnold Brunner. The platform was intended to compete with conventional banking apps and enable customers to analyze their finances.

So far, 30 employees have worked for Heymoney in Munich. It is not yet clear what will happen to the employees. "Together with our investor, we will do everything we can to offer our employees new prospects," Storm told Finance Forward. Allianz is also examining what options are now available for existing Heymoney users.
