In the current market environment, the fertility start-up is also putting profitability before growth. That's why a number of employees are now having to leave the company.

The Berlin-based fertility start-up Clue is laying off 25 percent of its workforce. Previously, the company had about 100 employees. Gründerszene writes of 31 people who had to leave the start-up. Founder Ida Tin gives reasons for the move in a Linkedinpostwith the difficult market environment in which venture capital-financed companies in particular are operating. Tin said she downsized Clue's team to ensure the company's financial survival.

As recently as December 2021, Clue raised €16 million from investors including Balderton and Future Positive Capital. Since its founding in 2012, the startup says it has raised more than €30 million. Clue offers an app that can track a menstruating person's cycle. This allows fertile and infertile days to be determined. Co-CEO Carrie Walter also commented in a post on Linkedin writing that the mass layoff was the most difficult decision of her life.
