Online pharmacy Kurando apparently files for insolvency

The upcoming e-prescription has led to the launch of a number of drug delivery services. Kurando was apparently unable to assert itself.
"Watch out! Kurando is closed until further notice. Unfortunately, you cannot order any products at the moment," says the website of the Berlin pharmacy delivery service. Former Sennder managers Lukas Pfaffernoschke and Niklas Spiegel only founded the delivery service in October 2021. According to media reports, the start-up is now in provisional insolvency proceedings.
The company's financial situation is currently being assessed and the remaining assets are being secured, the insolvency administrator responsible, Philipp Grauer, told start-up scene. A decision on whether insolvency proceedings will be opened is to be made by the beginning of July.
Kurando raised one million euros in its first financing round. Since then, no new investment has been announced. The situation is different for competitor Mayd. The drug delivery service only raised 30 million euros in financing at the beginning of this year. However, it is not only the highly financed competition that is likely to pose a problem for Kurando. The start-up would also have had to defend itself against legal attacks, as the industry portal Apotheke adhoc reports. According to the report, the North Rhine Chamber of Pharmacists (AKNR) criticized the start-up's advice and pricing model. The chamber has sued both managing directors. However, it is unlikely that there will be a trial once insolvency proceedings have been opened.
