Solution found for CleverShuttle transports

The future of CleverShuttle services in Germany is secure. More than 20 connections will continue, 750 jobs have been saved.

Berlin - After months of negotiations, the team led by insolvency administrator Sebastian Laboga of PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has found a solution for the future of CleverShuttle transports. These transports, which were operated by various subsidiaries of the insolvent GHT Mobility GmbH, will remain in place and continue seamlessly. Around 750 jobs remain secure.

Under the leadership of attorney Laboga, the transports could be transferred to new operators as of November 1, 2023. Subsidiaries of Via Transportation Inc. and Deutsche Bahn AG will take over the services in the future, preserving the jobs of the approximately 750 employees.

CleverShuttle operated 21 on-demand transports in more than 45 German municipalities. Deutsche Bahn will take over the transports in the southeast and in Leipzig, while Via will operate the transports in Hesse and Dresden. In Lower Saxony and Regensburg, the services will be continued independently by regional operators. Only a very small service in Bavaria will no longer be operated. Otherwise, all services have a secure future, and even two new services were launched during the insolvency proceedings.

Individual solutions necessary in the various regions

GHT Mobility GmbH had been in insolvency proceedings since May 2023, led by insolvency administrator Laboga. The business operations of the operating subsidiaries that ran the services continued during the proceedings, and all passengers continued to be transported. GHT Mobility was responsible for IT and organizational tasks in the group and also performed payroll for non-insolvent subsidiaries.

Despite efforts to find an overall solution for GHT Mobility GmbH, an individual solution was necessary for the transports in the various regions. This process is now complete, and the transition to the new operators is seamless. Laboga noted that creditors will also benefit from this solution and can expect an above-average rate.
