Online supermarket Oda launches in Germany

The Norwegian unicorn wants to launch in Berlin from January 2023. The company is building its logistics center in Mittenwalde for this purpose.
The Norwegian online supermarket Oda is coming to Germany. After almost a year of construction work on its logistics center, the start-up wants to start a test phase in Berlin from January. Oda will then make 9,000 groceries available for delivery. This includes fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, meat and baked goods, as well as frozen products and household items.
"With Oda, we are taking on the brick-and-mortar supermarket in Berlin and showing that there is another way to do the weekly shopping for the whole family that fits much more seamlessly into the daily routine than the usual trip to the supermarket and also helps to save time," says Malte Nousch, Managing Director of Oda Germany. Berlin is a good starting point for the German market, as there is already a high affinity for delivery services there.
Founded in 2013, the company has developed a logistics platform that aims to optimize all steps in the supply chain. This is done with the help of automation and machine learning. Among other things, Oda uses robots to support incoming and outgoing goods at the logistics centers. The company claims to be Norway's first unicorn and to generate an annual turnover of 250 million euros. Its investors include Softbank, Prosus and Kinnevik.
