Platform Group takes over Möbelfirst

The e-commerce company now holds a majority stake in the Bonn-based furniture start-up. The founders and one of the investors remain part of Möbelfirst.
The e-commerce company Platform Group is taking over the Bonn-based start-up Möbelfirst. The companies announced this in a joint press release. The purchase price was not initially disclosed. Both Möbelfirst founders Dennis Franken and Christoph Ritschel as well as the Höner family of investors will remain on board.
Franken and Ritschel founded Möbelfirst in 2016. Furniture retailers can sell their goods across Europe via the company's platform. According to the company, 300 retailers currently use the service. "2020 was a record year for us. The demand for designer furniture is greater than ever before and the online channel is growing strongly. The decision to accelerate growth in the future as part of The Platform Group is a great opportunity for our company," say the two founders.
In addition to Möbelfirst, the Platform Group includes twelve other e-commerce platforms from various sectors, including shoes, bags and bicycles. The Möbelfirst site in Bonn is to be retained and the Platform Group will also take on all employees. Further offices are to be added in the future, including in Berlin and Munich.
