In 2020, Tier Mobility had positioned itself more broadly with the Coup e-mopeds. Now the start-up is doing away with them again.

According to information from Movinc Tier Mobility will no longer offer e-mopeds in future. They are to be discontinued by the end of the year, and customers can already no longer book them via the Tier app.

The reason for this step is that the investment costs for software and hardware are too high. Instead, the company wants to focus on becoming profitable. "We are now fully focusing on our e-scooter and e-bike fleets and expanding our market leadership in Germany and worldwide," a Tier spokesperson told Movinc.

In 2020, Tier Mobility took over around 5,000 e-mopeds and the associated charging infrastructure from Coup Mobility. "We have gained valuable experience with e-scooters and can now use this effectively in the field of e-mopeds," said Tier Mobility co-founder and CEO Lawrence Leuschner two years ago about the move. With the disappearance of e-mopeds from the roads, it is clear that the hopes have not been fulfilled.
