Careship is insolvent

The start-up's net loss for 2019 amounted to 3.8 million euros. Careship is now looking for a buyer.
Following a failed exit, Careship has filed for insolvency. According to Managing Director Brian Plackis Cheng, a sole buyer for the company backed out at the last minute. Investors Creandum and Spark Capital also reduced their stakes in the Berlin start-up, according to information from German Startups significantly.
"We are now focusing all our efforts on finding new investors or a buyer in the coming weeks. No layoffs are planned at the moment," said Plackis Cheng at Deutsche Startups.
Antonia and Nikolaus Albert founded Careship in 2015; Brian Plackis Cheng has been managing the start-up since 2019. Careship uses its platform to find everyday helpers who want to support senior citizens. Last year, the start-up said it supported 2,500 family caregivers.
