B2B SaaS startup 3D Spark has raised €1.2 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by the Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund. Its AI-based system automates manufacturing process identification and quotation generation.

3D Spark specializes in the automation of processes in the manufacturing and procurement landscape. The company uses AI technology to automate the identification of the optimal manufacturing process, the preparation of quotations and the preparation of quotation requests. Customers will use the platform to make more cost-efficient and ecological production decisions.

The fresh funding will allow us to accelerate the development of our innovative platform and deliver on our claim 'The best manufacturing process for every component'

Ruben Meuth, Cofounder & CEO 3D Spark

In this second closing, the round was led by the Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund (FTTF), while Discovery CFO UG was also won as an investor. The Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg (IFH) and FTTF had previously invested in 3D Spark in the first closing. Despite the difficult market environment, the round was oversubscribed, which underlines the investors' belief in 3D Spark.

With the successful completion of the financing round, the team is now in an excellent position to further refine its software and offer it to a wide range of new customers

Jörg Wamser, Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund

3D Spark's customers include various companies from the rail, automotive and manufacturing industries. They include industry giants such as Alstom, Deutsche Bahn and ZF Friedrichshafen. Even the Hamburg tourist attraction "Miniatur Wunderland" is already one of the company's license customers.

3D Spark's software automates a large part of the manual quotation process, giving sales staff significantly more time to solve customer problems and generate sales. In addition, the integrated feasibility check and cost calculation facilitates decision-making on make-or-buy issues. As a result, many previous requests for quotations become superfluous, which reduces the administrative workload in procurement and sales.
