3D Spark closes 1.2 million Euro seed round

Marc Nemitz Marc Nemitz | 23.05.2023

B2B SaaS startup 3D Spark has raised €1.2 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by the Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund. Its AI-based system automates manufacturing process identification and quoting.

3D Spark specializes in automating processes in the manufacturing and procurement landscape. The company uses AI technology to automate the identification of the optimal manufacturing process, quote generation, and preparation of requests for proposals. Customers are expected to use the platform to make more cost-effective and greener manufacturing decisions.

The fresh funding will enable us to accelerate the development of our innovative platform and deliver on our claim of 'The best manufacturing process for every component'

Ruben Meuth, Cofounder & CEO 3D Spark

In this second closing, the round was led by the Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund (FTTF), while Discovery CFO UG was also attracted as an investor. Previously, Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg (IFH) and FTTF had already invested in 3D Spark in the First Closing. Despite the difficult market environment, the round was oversubscribed, which underlines the investors' belief in 3D Spark.

With the successful closing of the funding round, the team is now in an excellent position to further refine its software and offer it to a broad range of new customers

Jörg Wamser, Fraunhofer Technology Transfer Fund

3D Spark's customers include diverse companies in the rail, automotive and manufacturing industries. Among them are industry giants such as Alstom, Deutsche Bahn and ZF Friedrichshafen. Even the Hamburg tourist attraction "Miniatur Wunderland" is already one of the company's licensed customers.

3D Spark's software automates much of the manual quoting process, freeing up sales staff to spend significantly more time solving customer problems and generating revenue. In addition, integrated manufacturability testing and costing facilitates decision-making on make-or-buy issues. As a result, many previous requests for quotations become obsolete, reducing the administrative workload in procurement and sales.
