App builder Roq Technology gets nine million euros

The start-up of two former Rocket managers has completed its seed financing. The founders want to use the money to build a global team.
The Berlin-based software start-up Roq Technology has raised an unusually high amount of seed funding of almost nine million euros. The money comes from the Berlin-based Rocket subsidiary Flash Ventures, reports Gründerszene. "We are now further developing our products, accelerating our growth and expanding our global team," co-founder Fabian Wesner told the magazine.
Alongside Wesner, the second founder also comes from the Rocket universe. Wesner was CTO at Rocket Internet, while his co-founder Tim Niemeier managed investments abroad. Together, they launched their start-up Roq Technology, which offers an app construction kit designed to help tech companies build apps quickly and easily. "If you want to build the next Airbnb or Uber, for example, you really only have two options: Develop everything yourself at the drawing board or rely on app construction kits," Wesner tells Gründerszene.
So far, this service has been offered by so-called no- or low-code platforms. Roq aims to bridge the gap between self-programming and ready-made construction kits. The start-up provides ready-made code snippets for common solutions such as chat windows or subscriptions, while programmers can write the rest.
