Die Höhle der Löwen: Deal with Giulia Siegel's start-up falls through

During the show, the founders of Greenbill collected 250,000 euros. But after the show, the lions backed out.

Celebrity DJ Giulia Siegel and her partner Ludwig Heer have founded the SaaS start-up Greenbill. They want to make paper receipts superfluous. Customers simply scan a QR code at the till and receive their receipt digitally by email.

It sounded promising on the Vox show "Die Höhle der Löwen" and Greenbill raised 250,000 euros (and an option for a further 150,000 euros). In return, the founders gave 18% of their company shares to the three lions Dagmar Wöhrl, Carsten Maschmeyer and Nils Glagau.

However, the deal fell through after the show, reports Gründerszene. The third member of the group and programmer of the software, Tobias Kiessling, was - contrary to what was portrayed in the show - not a shareholder of Greenbill. "We actually wanted to settle this after the show," says Managing Director Heer to Gründerszene. "However, as we were unable to agree on the conditions, the collaboration broke down." The three lions Wöhrl, Maschmeyer and Glagau then withdrew their funding commitment. "They wanted to invest in a complementary trio in the program, which then no longer existed," says Heer.

However, the lions continued to help the founders. Maschmeyer introduced Greenbill to the cash register manufacturers Orderbird and Gastrofix. This resulted in official partnerships, reports Heer. Wöhrl wants to test the software in its Dormero hotel chain. The 250,000 euros required have now been covered by a loan. So far, Greenbill has not been able to attract any investors.
