Die Höhle der Löwen: Deal with Giulia Siegel's start-up falls through

In the show, the founders of Greenbill collected 250,000 euros. But after the show, the lions bailed.

Celebrity DJane Giulia Siegel and her partner Ludwig Heer have founded SaaS start-up Greenbill. They want to make paper receipts obsolete. Customers should only scan a QR code at the checkout and receive the receipt digitally by mail.

On the Vox show "Die Höhle der Löwen" this sounded promising and Greenbill collected 250,000 euros (and an option for another 150,000 euros). In return, the founders gave 18 percent of their company shares to the three lions Dagmar Wöhrl, Carsten Maschmeyer and Nils Glagau.

However, the deal fell through after the show, reports Gründerszene. The third in the group and programmer of the software, Tobias Kiessling, was - contrary to what was presented in the broadcast - not a shareholder of Greenbill. "We actually wanted to settle this after the show," CEO Heer tells Gründerszene

. "However, since we could not agree on the terms, the cooperation broke up." The three lions Wöhrl, Maschmeyer and Glagau then withdrew their funding commitment. "They wanted to invest in a complementary threesome in the show, which then no longer existed," says Heer.

However, the lions helped the founders along. Maschmeyer introduced Greenbill to cash register manufacturers Orderbird and Gastrofix. Official partnerships have emerged from this, reports Heer. Wöhrl wants to test the software in their hotel chain Dormero. The required 250,000 euros have now been covered by a loan. So far, Greenbill has not been able to attract investors.
