Emmy wants to become profitable

The Berlin-based e-scooter rental company Emmy has received a third round of funding. Black figures are to follow in the coming year.
Emmy raises a low, double-digit million amount in Series C. The main investor is the Munich-based capital provider Bonventure. In addition, the previous investors, such as IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Green City, have also given money again. The investment is half debt and half equity financed, reports Gründerszene.
The money will be used to purchase 1,500 new e-scooters. There are currently 2,000 red rental scooters driving around Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. There are also some scooters in Düsseldorf, where Emmy is cooperating with the local public utility company. So far, the start-up has 300,000 customers. However, the year was not very successful. Fewer people have been riding scooters since the pandemic. Emmy has recorded a drop in usage of between 30 and 80 percent. A planned launch in Vienna was canceled. With the new investment, Emmy wants to focus on the core markets of Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.
