Emmy wants to become profitable

The e-scooter rental company Emmy from Berlin gets a third financing. Next year, black figures are to follow.

Emmy is raising a low, double-digit million Series C. The main investor is Munich-based capital provider Bonventure. In addition, previous investors, such as IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Green City, have also given money again. The investment is half debt-financed and half equity-financed, Gründerszene

reports.

The money will be used to purchase 1,500 new e-scooters. Currently, 2,000 red rental scooters are driving through Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. There are also some scooters in Düsseldorf, where Emmy cooperates with the local public utilities. So far, the start-up has 300,000 customers. However, the year was not very successful. Since the pandemic, fewer people have ridden scooters. Between 30 and 80 percent usage losses were recorded by Emmy. A planned launch in Vienna was cancelled. With the new investment, Emmy wants to concentrate on the core markets of Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.
