Enerkite wants to generate electricity with flying kites

The innovative product has already undergone a test phase. The start-up claims that it generates more energy than a wind turbine.
The start-up Enerkite is launching a kite on the market that is designed to generate more energy than a wind turbine. According to T3N , the start-up has already completed an initial test phase and the product from the company from Kleinmachnow (Brandenburg) is now set to be launched soon.
Unlike a wind turbine, the kite does not simply stand in the air, but is designed to fly eight-shaped orbits. According to the start-up, the kite pulls on the ropes of the fully automatic ground station using the force of the wind. The cable pull causes a drum to rotate, which a generator then converts into electricity. Once the flying kite has reached its final height, it is pulled back down and the game starts all over again.
The start-up has high hopes for its invention. This is because the higher position of the kites allows it to capture wind at heights of 200 to 300 meters, which, according to the start-up, is more powerful than at the height of a normal wind turbine. According to T3N , this leads to a greater yield of energy. The kites are said to deliver twice as much yield as wind turbines and at the same time consume far fewer raw materials because they do not require a concrete structure on the ground.
Enerkite has already been able to collect funding in the past. In April 2021, the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB) awarded the start-up €3.4 million in funding as part of the ProFIT program. ProFIT aims to increase Brandenburg's innovative strength.
