Exakt Health goes to the USA

The Berlin-based healthtech expands into one of the world's largest markets - and reaches a milestone with users.
Berlin-based healthtech Exakt Health is expanding into the USA. The start-up is launching its app for rehab plans for sports injuries on the US market just one year after it was founded. The plans had been known for some time, as the start-up had set its sights on US expansion after its last financing round. At that time, Exakt Health was able to raise around 1.5 million US dollars from investors. Investors included Backbone Ventures and Auxxo. Existing investors Possible Ventures, N26 founder Maximilian Tayenthal and existing investors Cornelia Hoppe and Gloria Bäuerlein also participated.
The start-up was founded in 2021 by Philip Billaudelle and Lucia Payo. Shortly afterwards, they launched an app that provides training plans after sports injuries. So far, the app has been available in Europe and the UK, where around 20,000 users are using it, according to the start-up. In future, the start-up wants to attract even more customers in the USA.
Philip Billaudelle, CEO and co-founder of Exakt Health, says: "The market conditions we have found here are excellent: due to the poor state healthcare system and long waiting times for treatment, as well as the high level of telehealth affinity among Americans, we expect a steep growth curve."
