Exakt Health goes to the USA

Berlin-based healthtech expands into one of the world's largest markets - and reaches user milestone.

Berlin-based healthtech Exakt Health is expanding into the US. The startup is launching its app for rehab plans for sports injuries in the U.S. market just one year after its founding. The plans had been known for some time, as the startup had set U.S. expansion as a goal after its last funding round. At that time, Exakt Health was able to raise around USD 1.5 million from investors. Backbone Ventures and Auxxo were among the investors. Other investors included Possible Ventures, N26 founder Maximilian Tayenthal and existing investors Cornelia Hoppe and Gloria Bäuerlein.

Philip Billaudelle and Lucia Payo founded the startup in 2021. Shortly after, they launched an app that has training plans ready after sports injuries. So far, the app has been usable in Europe and the United Kingdom, where the startup says it has about 20,000 users in use. In the future, the startup hopes to attract even more customers in the United States.

Philip Billaudelle, CEO and co-founder of Exakt Health, says: "The market conditions we have found here are excellent: due to the poor state healthcare system and long waiting times for therapies, as well as the high tele-health affinity of Americans, we expect a steep growth curve."
