Flash Coffee receives 15 million US dollars

The start-up founded by former Foodora manager David Brunier is receiving money from US investor White Star Capital, among others.
David Brunier once worked for the food delivery company Foodora. Then Oliver Samwer gave him money and Brunier founded his own start-up. With Flash Coffee, he sells coffee in shopping malls in Asia. Now the start-up, which is backed by Rocket Internet, has received 15 million US dollars in a Series A financing round.
The round was led by US investor White Star Capital. They were joined by Delivery Heroe-backed VC DX Ventures, Global Founders Capital and Conny & Co. Flash Coffee intends to use the money to expand in the Asia-Pacific region.
Flash Coffee launched in January 2020 and now operates 50 locations in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. According to the company, the majority of its branches are already profitable. Flash Coffee is currently opening three new stores per week. It wants to increase the pace and open ten new stores per week.
"Our dream is to have a Flash Coffee every 500 meters in all major Asian cities," says founder David Brunier. "The strong investor support for our Series A round allows us to capitalize on the untapped potential in the region and replicate our success in seven new markets this year: Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam."
