Gorillas said to be worth three billion US dollars

The delivery service has apparently raised $950 million in a Series C funding round. Delivery Hero led the round, according to a media report.

The battle of the delivery services is raging on the German streets. After apparently just Flink was able to secure millions again, this is apparently also the case with Gorillas. According to a report by "The Information" , the company is said to have collected around 950 million US dollars from investors, thus driving up its valuation to three billion US dollars.

According to the media report, the round was led by the former German start-up and current DAX company Delivery Hero. There had already been speculation about whether the group would get involved in the food ordering start-up . To this end, existing investors such as Chinese tech group Tencent and US venture capitalists Coatue Management, A-Star Partners and DST are said to have joined in. With the money behind it, Gorillas probably wants to consolidate its own market power in the large European markets such as Germany, Spain, France and the UK. There is no shortage of competition in the delivery services space. Several companies, notably Gorillas, Flink and, more recently, Gopuff, are engaged in a fierce battle for supremacy in food ordering. The twist to the usual delivery service is the speed at which deliveries are rolled out. Gorillas, for example, takes just ten minutes between placing an order in the app and delivery. Most recently, the startup had grown quickly with this fighting spirit and had also caught some black eyes in the process, including a strike and fines from local authorities.
