Gorillas said to be worth three billion US dollars

According to a report by "The Information" , the company is said to have raised around 950 million US dollars from investors, pushing its valuation up to three billion US dollars.

According to the media report, the round was led by former German start-up and current DAX-listed company Delivery Hero. There had previously been speculation as to whether the Group would invest in the food ordering start-up . Existing investors such as the Chinese tech group Tencent and the US venture capitalists Coatue Management, A-Star Partners and DST are said to have joined in. With the money behind it, Gorillas probably wants to consolidate its own market power in the major European markets such as Germany, Spain, France and the UK. There is no shortage of competition in the delivery services sector. Several companies, including Gorillas, Flink and, most recently, Gopuff, are fighting a tough battle for supremacy in the food delivery market. What sets them apart from the usual delivery service is the speed at which deliveries are made. At Gorillas, for example, it only takes ten minutes between ordering in the app and delivery. Recently, the start-up has grown rapidly with this battle cry and has also caught a few black eyes in the process, including a strike and fines from the local authorities.
