Flink apparently makes 400 million euros in sales

The fast delivery service appears to have won the competition with Gorillas and now wants to become profitable as quickly as possible.

Flink probably made a good 400 million euros in turnover in 2022. This was reported by the Financial Times. This means that the team around founder and CEO Oliver Merkel has quintupled its turnover compared to the previous year. Flink is now aiming to become profitable in its German business in the fourth quarter of this year. In Germany, the fast delivery service with the pink-clad drivers generates around half of its turnover. One year later, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the entire business should then be profitable. To achieve this goal, Flink announced a cost-cutting program back in September.

The fast delivery service thus appears to have finally overtaken its competitor Gorillas. Its founder Kagan Sümer sold his Unicorn to Turkish competitor Getir. In a video published on Linkedin, he says that he feels neither a winner nor a loser in this deal. Within the scene, however, it now seems clear that Sümer's start-up has lost the battle with the competition.

Flink was founded in 2020. Since then, the start-up has received around 700 million euros. According to the Financial Times, Flink is financed until the end of next year. However, the pink express delivery service is also experiencing problems. The Austrian subsidiary recently filed for insolvency. The proceedings have been ongoing since mid-December. In October 2021, the subsidiary delivered to three Austrian cities for the first time. The 163 employees had to be made redundant and Flink made a double-digit million loss.
