Adblock Plus parent Eyeo grows strongly

The Cologne-based company generated sales of 55.8 million euros in 2020.

Eyeo, the parent company of Adblock-Plus based in Cologne, increased its 2020 sales to 55.8 million euros. In the previous year, sales were 47 million euros. That is according to the annual financial statements for the 2020 financial year. According to its own statements, the company thus met its forecast of a double-digit percentage increase in revenue. The main reason for this was user growth.

The annual net profit of the company, which was founded in 2011, was 11.6 million euros. This is lower than in previous years. In 2018, for example, Eyeo achieved a net profit of 35.5 million. This development is explained in the financial statements by the absence of income from investments in other companies and an increase in personnel costs. The company employed a total of 216 people in 2020, 20 more than the previous year.

In the financial statements, Eyeo's founders cite in particular the shift in nurtzer activity from desktop to mobile as the biggest threat to the company. Eyeo earns money from advertisers who are let through the adblocker.
