Mister Spex increases its sales by 18 percent

You're sure to have come across Mister Spex on social media, and influencers also like to buy from the online optician. The Berlin-based company is now presenting its figures for 2020: Turnover increased by 18 percent to 164 million euros.
"We recorded double-digit growth rates both in our home market in Germany and in our international segment," says CFO Sebastian Dehnen. "We are very pleased with this positive development."
The Berlin-based company combines online and offline offerings: in 2020, it opened 16 new stores in Germany, the latest of which is in Munich. This brings the total number of stores to 42.
The start-up recently acquired the deep-tech company Tribe, which uses AI solutions in ophthalmic optics. According to Gründerszene, Mister Spex is preparing an IPO for July, with a possible valuation of over one billion euros.
Founded in 2007, the company currently employs over 1,000 people. It offers online eye tests and glasses such as contact lenses.
