New logo for Newsenselab

Meta's logo looked confusingly similar to the old one of the migraine app. Now the start-up has been given a new one.

The design agency Mutabor has given Newsenselab a new logo for its migraine app. The start-up had already announced its intention to change its logo at the beginning of November. The reason: On October 28, the Facebook group announced its rebranding to Meta and unveiled a new logo, an intertwined blue M. Newsenselab used a similar logo in green for its migraine app, which was launched at the end of 2020.

The start-up decided against a lawsuit and legal dispute with Meta. "A demarcation agreement would be a common way to allow both logos to coexist. But the similarity of the logo would certainly still suggest to most people that we have a similar poor handling of sensitive data as Facebook - there have already been questions from our users as to whether we now belong to Facebook," says CEO Markus Dahlem. The logo debacle received a lot of media attention. Mutabor then decided to help the start-up with its rebranding and give it a new logo.

On Linkedin, the design agency also called on its community to create images that show what the new Msense logo should not look like. Numerous suggestions were received under the hashtag #allforMsense: The Msense lettering adorned the Milka logo and Magnum ice cream, for example.

Msense is the migraine app from Newsenselab. Doctors can issue a prescription for the app. It helps migraine patients to keep a headache diary, document their medication intake and analyze the progress of their treatment.
