New logo for Newsenselab

Meta's logo looked confusingly similar to the old migraine app. Now the start-up is getting a new one.

The design agency Mutabor has given Newsenselab a new logo for its migraine app. The start-up had already announced at the beginning of November that it wanted to change its logo. The reason: on October 28, Facebook Group announced its rebrand to Meta and unveiled a new logo, an intricate blue M. Newsenselab used a similar logo in greenfor its migraine app, which was launched in late 2020.

The startup decided against suing and litigating with Meta. "A delineation agreement would be a common way to allow both logos to coexist. But the similarity of the logo would certainly still suggest to most people that we have a similar poor handling of sensitive data as Facebook - there have already been questions from our users as to whether we are now part of Facebook," says CEO Markus Dahlem. The logo debacle received a lot of media attention. As a result, Mutabor decided to help the start-up rebrand and give it a new logo.

On Linkedin, the design agency also called on its community to create motifs showing what the new Msense logo should not look like. Numerous suggestions were received under the hashtag #allforMsense: The Msense lettering adorned the Milka logo and Magnum ice cream, for example.

Msense is the migraine app from Newsenselab. Doctors can write a prescription for the app. It helps migraine patients keep a headache diary, document their medication intake, and analyze treatment progress.
