According to media reports, the start-up has laid off at least 90 employees from the HR and finance departments.

A few days after a big company party, McMakler apparently announced a number of redundancies, according to Gründerszene and Deutsche-Start-ups report. Of the approximately 1,000 employees, at least 90 employees from the HR and finance departments are said to be affected. The start-up is also said to have not extended expiring contracts and cut internships. Insiders speak of around 120 people affected.

"McMakler is a growth company, but we also pay attention to cost control. We are currently experiencing a changing situation in the overall economic environment, which we have to take into account at an early stage," a spokesperson for the company told Gründerszene and confirms the redundancies. Internally, the redundancies were justified by the tense real estate market.

McMakler is a hybrid estate agent operating in Germany, Austria and France. Founded in 2015 by Felix Jahn, the company employs more than 450 of its own real estate agents at around 30 locations. McMakler presented good figures for 2021. Turnover amounted to around 92 million euros in the previous year, an increase of 70 percent compared to 2020.
