The Göppingen-based company intends to expand its enterprise AR portfolio. Viscopic develops interactive holograms.

The Munich-based start-up Viscopic has been acquired by Teamviewer. "The new colleagues are proven specialists in their field of technology and the Viscopic solutions are a great addition to our existing enterprise AR suite," says Hendrik Witt, CPO of Teamviewer. The Göppingen-based company is best known for its remote solutions. A purchase price was not disclosed in the company's press release.

Viscopic offers holograms and 3D visualizations. Its customers include Audi, Siemens Energy and Deutsche Bahn. The software runs on mixed reality glasses and smartphones. It can be used to pin 3D markings or step-by-step instructions as digital content to objects in the real world. Areas of application include assembly, inspection, maintenance, remote assistance and order picking in logistics.

"We see great potential in implementing our powerful 3D processing and mixed reality authoring technology into Teamviewer's enterprise offering, as it allows us to provide direct added value to Teamviewer and Viscopic customers," says Marco Maier, co-founder of Viscopic. "Additionally, with Teamviewer's global sales and marketing power, we can take the use of our software to the next level."
