Teamviewer buys AR start-up Upskill

With this acquisition, the software company intends to expand its remote maintenance offering to the area of machinery and industrial plants. This is the second acquisition in a short space of time.
The software company Teamviewer, based in Göppingen near Stuttgart, has announced another acquisition. Following the takeover of Bremen-based start-up Ubimax in the fall, the company is now also acquiring US augmented reality expert Upskill.
"By acquiring Upskill, we are strengthening our capabilities as the company focuses on complementary use cases and industries such as aerospace, pharma & life sciences, insurance & claims management and retail," said Teamviewer CEO Oliver Steil.
Upskill offers real-time interfaces for data glasses and other end devices that are designed to integrate skilled workers and maintenance teams into their daily work. Its customers include Boeing, General Electric and Merck.
Teamviewer is primarily known for its in-house remote maintenance software for computers. With the latest acquisitions, the company aims to grow in the field of remote maintenance of machines and industrial plants.
