June 2025
Due to the constantly growing adaptation of generative AI, we see a steadily increasing demand for contemporary PR work. March 2025
The platform has over 11,000 registered companies in the startup database. Our startup magazine consists of over 5,000 published news items on the German startup ecosystem and, in addition to the direct hits on our own websites (startbase.de and startbase.com), we have also achieved a kind of B2B influencer status on LinkedIn with 25,000+ followers. A design revamp loosens up the visual presentation.
2024
Expansion of the technical integration of the magazine and database. The Startbase platform recognizes which media are reporting on a startup and aggregates this information in the respective profile of the startup / investor.
May 2023
Spin-off of the corporate startup project as "Startbase GmbH" under the management of Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher and Johannes Ellenberg. Marc Nemitz takes over the management of the editorial team.
2022
The Startbase platform has over 10,000 registered start-ups, over 80,000 monthly visitors and over 250,000 page views per month. We can look back on a large number of successful startup investments through our matchmaking functions and reporting.
December 2020
In the course of the coronavirus pandemic, the operational project team around Dominik Schütz, Dr. Julius Tennert and Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher decides to further expand the editorial part of the platform. A dedicated editorial team is set up around the journalists Lars-Thorben Niggehoff, Jan Schulte and Nils Heck (née Wischmeyer). The platform functions relating to user-generated content (UGC) are also expanded further.
September 2019
Launch of the multilingual platform under the new brand "startbase.de" - operational project management by Dr. Marc Mehlhorn, Stefan Nothacker, Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher and Maria Müller. Startups and investors now have the opportunity to add their own content to the platform. [ Startup Association ]
January 2019
Start of the partnership with the Startup Verband. The strategic realignment is developed by Dr. Michael Völter, Sascha Schubert, Dr. Marc Mehlhorn, Florian Nöll and Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher and reads: "Startbase is to be the first digital German- and English-language online platform that centrally maps the startup landscape in Germany. With a comprehensive startup database, Startbase creates more transparency and offers centralized access to the German startup ecosystem. In this way, Startbase helps German startups to attract more attention both nationally and internationally." [ Startup Association, StartupBW].
2018
Under the project management of Dr. Marc Mehlhorn, a revision of the VentureZphere concept is initiated, the project is to be given more community character in the future and implemented as an in-house development. Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher takes on the role of CTO/CDO as Entrepreneur in Residence and is responsible for the technical implementation.

Approval of funding by the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing (Baden-Württemberg) under the project name "Venture Sphere".
2016
Initiation of the project by Dr. Michael Völter to set up an online platform to support young, innovative start-ups in to support the acquisition of equity and debt capital.
