Delivery Hero founds venture capital fund

Delivery Hero only went public in 2017, now the Group wants to invest itself and is launching its venture capital fund DX Ventures. Initially, 50 million euros are available.
The rise of the delivery company Delivery Hero continues: the company was founded in Berlin ten years ago and went public in 2017. For some years now, the company has been buying up various competitors, such as the Latin American company Glovo last year. Delivery Hero now wants to invest in start-ups in the fields of food, artificial intelligence, logistics, sustainability and on-demand services with its own investment arm. This is not unusual for DAX companies, which combine their own knowledge with the innovations of tomorrow to secure the best ideas ahead of the competition.
"We understand the opportunities and challenges that these start-ups face because we have been through them ourselves," says Duncan McIntyre, Managing Director of DX Ventures, the name of the investment department. He has been with Delivery Hero since 2014 and was involved in the company's IPO.
A condition for the fund's participation is that the start-ups must be owned by the founders. Initially, 50 million euros are available. Delivery Hero has already invested 500 million euros in minority shareholdings, which are now also allocated to DX Ventures. These include the above-mentioned company Glovo, as well as Rappi, which was brought in by McIntyre and is also a food delivery service, and Bio-Lutions and wisefood, both of which are dedicated to the sustainable production of packaging.
