Toniebox company goes public via Spac

The Düsseldorf-based company Boxine is behind the famous Tonieboxes. It has now announced its intention to go public via Spac in the fourth quarter.
In June, Boxine GmbH, the company behind the Tonieboxes, confirmed talks about a planned IPO via Spac. Now it is certain: in the fourth quarter, the Düsseldorf-based company will go public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with the Spac of investor 468 Capital. Boxine will achieve a valuation of 870 million euros in this context.
The transaction will bring Boxine 400 million euros: 300 million euros are in 468 Capital's Spac, 100 million euros come from investors such as BIT Capital, Baillie Gifford and others. The company intends to use the money to grow further and expand internationally.
In 2020, Boxine generated sales of 137 million euros, this year it is set to reach 170 million euros. Since the Tonieboxes were launched in 2016, Boxine has sold 2.4 million of the toy boxes. Co-founders Marcus Stahl and Patric Faßbender will continue to run the company. "We are delighted to have found the perfect partner to support our growth ambitions and our vision of safe, screen-free and controlled learning and entertainment experiences for children," says Stahl about his company's plans. Earlier this year, Boxine founded the Tonielab, where new ideas around the Toniebox are created.
