Next E.go apparently plans IPO

According to media reports, the company could take this step in the first half of 2022.

Aachen-based e-car start-up Next Ego could be planning a stock market listing in the first half of 2022. At least that's what the Handelsblatt and refers to financial circles. Either a normal IPO could be considered - or the company could approach a Spac deal.

In addition, according to the media report, the company could be valued at around 1.5 billion euros as part of this deal. According to Handelsblatt 's sources, the startup could raise money to stem its growth. The process could be organized by investment bank Citi.

Next Ego, if the reports prove true, would not be the first German e-car company to venture an IPO. It was only in November 2021 that Munich-based e-car start-up Sono Motors went public on the Nasdaq stock exchange - and it did so via Spac. The company had thus been able to avoid insolvency and doubled its valuation to two billion euros.

Next Ego is largely owned by ND Industrial Investments from the Netherlands. Ex-Daimler manager Martin Klein has led the company since the end of 2021. A major problem for the start-up could be competition in the low-cost e-segment. With a new, better model, which is likely to be unveiled in the spring, Next Ego could improve its position in this competition. So far, some competitors are technically ahead of the company. It was already announced in the summer that Next Ego could consider an IPO. However, no further details were known at the time.
