Mayd raises 30 million euros

The pharmacy supplier intends to use the money to expand its service. As soon as the digital prescription is available, customers will then also be able to order prescription drugs.

Berlin-based Mayd says it is the leading online delivery service for pharmacy products. The company has now raised 30 million euros in a Series A financing round. A new addition on the investor side is the US fund Lightspeed Venture Partners. Existing investors Target Global, 468 Capital and Earlybird Venture Capital continue to participate.

Via Mayd, people in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Düsseldorf can order more than 2,000 over-the-counter medicines and other pharmacy products online. The goods come from local pharmacies. Customers can order every day - including Sundays - between 8 a.m. and midnight. The delivery should arrive within 30 minutes. The founders Lukas Pieczonka and Hanno Heintzenberg have already gained experience at the real estate marketing platform McMakler.

With the money from the new financing round, Mayd now wants to expand its service: "Until the launch of the e-prescription, we will continuously develop the product for our customers and want to further expand our leading position in the market," says co-founder and Managing Director Lukas Pieczonka. With the electronic prescription, which is still planned for 2022, customers will also be able to order prescription drugs in the future.

Paul Murphy, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners has high hopes for the European market. "The Mayd team convinced us early on with their concept and proved in Germany that the demand for a digital delivery platform around pharmacy products is immense. The U.S. market has shown us through various examples that the potential goes far beyond the pure sale of pharmacy products." He is convinced that this is even greater in Germany and Europe.
