About Startbase

What's the launching site?

We are building a central, digital platform that simplifies and accelerates the way companies are found and brought together. Startbase helps to establish Germany as one of the leading start-up ecosystems in the world. Startbase focuses on simplifying the way start-ups can find and contact investors, companies and other ecosystem partners from Germany and abroad and vice versa - in a trustworthy and transparent environment!

Who runs the Startbase?

We are a team of colleagues based in Berlin and Stuttgart. We bring together a broad capital market expertise and extensive contacts in the nationwide start-up scene, politics and abroad. We have made it our business to develop and offer new innovative services that help startups find the right partners and facilitate their financing process.

Both project partners have already been heavily involved in the start-up ecosystem before the start of the project, have dealt with venture capital, organised pitching events, formed resilient networks or influenced political frameworks that favour the growth of start-ups.

The Stuttgart stock exchange is the leading stock exchange for private investors in Germany. At the Stuttgart stock exchange, small investors trade in shares, securitised derivatives, bonds, investment fund units and participation certificates - and all this with the highest quality of execution and best prices.

The Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V. is the representation and voice of the startups in Germany - with more than 1,000 members (startups from different industries in all phases, companies and investors); to create synergies between old and new economy.

Is Startbase a worldwide platform?

Our focus is on German start-ups. We want foreign investors or potential cooperation partners to pay more attention to the German start-up ecosystem and its potential. In this way we offer them easy access. So, yes, Startbase is an international platform.

Who can register on Startbase?

Everybody who is part of the German startup ecosystem or is interested in it! Our platform is aimed at employees, managers, journalists, founders, investors and everyone else who is involved with startups.

What are your startup criteria?

We address innovative, growth-oriented and scalable companies that are either already established in Germany, are planning to establish a company in Germany or have a branch office in Germany. Startup companies are usually, but do not have to be younger than 10 years (exceptions are possible). Their founders should still have a significant stake in the company.
We reserve the right to reject company profiles if they do not meet our criteria. If we still have questions, we will contact you.

Where does the distinction between start-ups, investors and corporations come from?

Startbase also addresses investors, corporations and other meaningful ecosystem partners from Germany and abroad.

First of all, the startup ecosystem is our focus, so it should be relevant for you as well. Investors aim to invest in start-ups and pursue activities that help them do so.

Companies show a commitment to the ecosystem, i.e. they provide offers and services that target start-ups, organize events, share their knowledge or search for innovative products, services and business models.

We don't like companies that use our platform to display their ads and only offer advertising content ;). We also do not like spam.

Therefore we reserve the right to reject company profiles if they do not meet our criteria or target groups. If you still have questions, we will contact you.

Which functions does the Startbase offer?

Create and share watchlists

Follow exciting companies by adding them to your watchlist.

Watchlists can be shared and used in different ways, e.g. to track short and long lists. Each watchlist offers a newsfeed-like stream that allows you to follow the news and updates of the companies you select.

Keep your watchlists up to date and you will never need a static Excel spreadsheet again.

Search & find the German startup ecosystem

Start-ups, investors and companies are easily searchable. Browse also our latest events and news.

Comprehensive filters allow you to customize your search and sort your results by various criteria. For example, see who is near you!

Manage and view Onepagers

Make it easier for investors to love your start-up. Our one-pager feature allows you to report important business information to selected investors.

Decide with a few clicks who can access the data instead of sending tedious PDF files.

Investors benefit from optimized access to Onepagers. It's faster and makes it easier to explore new investment opportunities and keep track of updates.

Connected you

You can get in touch with the right person seamlessly and still maintain any privacy.

Administrators can set specific contacts for specific requests. Best of all, the requesting person will not have access to the contact's phone number or email, not even the contact's name.

This way, you can control privacy at all times, while still being open to new requests from people you don't know.

About Profile / Registration

How do I create a company profile on Startbase?

To create a company profile, you have to log in first. Then you log in, go to "My Companies" and add a new company. Fill out the information step by step and complete your profile in the editor.

Provide as much information as possible. The more you share, the better the company profile will rank in our galleries and searches.

How can I claim my company profile?

Claimed profiles indicate that they are owned and managed by people who actually work in the company. We verify this by checking that your email address (e.g. m.muster@testfirma.de) matches your company's email domain (@testfirma.de).

If your company already has a profile on Startbase, but is not managed by the company itself, you can claim it at any time. Go to the company profile and click on "Is this your company? Follow the explanations to claim the company.

I cannot edit my profile - why?

Only "Admins" and authorized team members can change and update your company profile. If you are a team member, please contact the admin of your company who can allow you to edit your profile. Go to the "Editor" in your company profile to see who is the admin.

How can I add my team members?

In order to appear as a team member in a company's profile, each team member must be registered on Startbase with their company email address. We assign each team member to the respective company profile through their email.

Admins and authorized team members can then decide whether they appear in the company profile and define their editing rights in the "Editor".

What is a One Pager and how can I manage it?

Onepagers help startups to manage important business information conveniently. All information is protected, so if someone is interested, they must first submit a request to access it. Startups can then decide whether to accept or reject a pending request.

Startups can set their Onepager settings with a few clicks in the Company Editor, including the Onepager privacy settings.

Go to your "My Companies" and click the "Edit" button for the company you want to edit the Onepager for. Alternatively, you can find your company on Startbase, click the Onepager in your company profile, click the "Edit" button, and start updating.

Where can I change my contact information?

Go to your "My Companies" and click the "Edit" button for the company you want to update your contact settings for.

Click on "Profile" and scroll to the bottom of the page. Enter different contacts for different requests. You can also choose to notify contacts by email or through another service/tool/channel. Since contact information is sensitive, we make sure that no one sees it. This way you can control your privacy at all times and at the same time be open to new requests from unknown parties.

Why can't I use some tools?

This can have several reasons:

  1. You are not assigned to a company profile.
  2. You are assigned to a company profile, but you are not an admin or you do not have admin rights. Then contact the admin of your company. You will find the name when you click on the tab "Editor" in your company profile.
  3. It's our fault - there could be an error. Then please contact us by sending an e-mail to
